Seriously?! Seriously!!

Its Day 3 in the hospital. Thank God for creating wifi.

Last night I got bitchy with some nurses.

The baby was taken off drips in the morning. Doctor's orders were for the drips to be administered at night only. So, come evening a couple of unfamiliar looking nurses came in. One was wearing blue which I found out after a series of questions, was actually from the maternity ward but because nobody was about to give birth that night, she came in to Obstetrics to "help out".

The both of them then decided that the bandage for where his drips are attached to are too tight and proceeded to undo the bandage to redo it again. Done with that, they attached his drips and half an hour later, Mr Mine discovers that half the baby cot is wet. The drips were apparently leaking, so we called in the nurses again and they got all flustered and started blaming each other on why the damn thing was leaking. They then decided to undo his whole bandage because it was all wet. In the commotion something must have gone wrong and the little tot started screaming.

Now this is a 5 month old (today!) baby boy who doesnt cry when he gets poked with needles, doesn't fuss when given the nebuliser, doesn't get upset over petty little things at all. He was screaming and looking at his hand and looking at me begging for help and those nurses were still trying to figure out why the damn thing was leaking.

So that of course set me off. "Dia sakit! Dia sakit! What are you doing? He doesn't cry unless he's in serious pain!" And they were still bungling with his hand while there was a 3 inch needle stuck in it. They were still turning it and folding it about to figure out why he was in pain. They prodded his hand about and said... "oh tak bengkak pun...kenapa sakit ah?" I lost it. "STOP IT! GO find me someone who knows what they're doing now!! That's not how you fit the splint! His fingers should be free. It's supposed to support his wrist not bound his fingers! Stop it! Get me someone else NOW!!!"

In the middle of my hysterics, I think Mr Mine was telling them to just take the bloody needle out and leave him alone and try not to get gangrene on his son's hand in the process or something like that. I can't be sure because I was trying to calm the baby down while telling the nurses to get lost and GIVE ME BACK MY SON'S HAND!

So they scooted out and the head nurse came in. The baby had calmed down by then as I was holding his hand and his cries for help had settled into a soft whimpering. The head nurse came in to pull out the 3 inch needle stuck in his hand and put a bandage on it to stop the bleeding. Mr Mine said she was so scared (that she might lose her job, he thinks). But I couldnt look at them for fear I might start spitting and cursing in rage.

It's a five star hospital. I mean....SERIOUSLY.

Okaaaaaaaaay...that was really unprofessional. Poor boy had to undergo such trauma.

Maybe you shud say something in the comment card. I mean, if they wanna charge people thier noses for a so-called 5-star place, the service shud at least reflect that la kan?
